Volunteering with us

Community Lifestyles believe that volunteers can add greatly to the social and support network of the people we support. This can happen through a shared interest or activity or through people wanting to invest some of their time in their own community by making a difference to someone’s life, and subsequently their own.

Community Lifestyles are currently looking for people to volunteer for the role of Befriender.  Working on a one-to-one basis with someone in your community who shares a common interest with you and with your help could achieve an aspiration or dream. This may be a leisure or sporting interest.

Alternatively you may be interested in group work with some of our day services. We offer a wide range of activities such as football, arts and crafts, drumming groups and lunch clubs across the city.

What we offer volunteers:

  • A quick response to any enquiry about volunteering.
  • We will work out how best to place you either on a one to one basis or in a group setting.
  • We will identify a link worker who can help guide you through your induction and support you in establishing your role.
  • We will offer you core training and will identify any further training you may require.
  • An opportunity to develop your awareness of disability and diversity issues.
  • An opportunity to enhance your CV and employability.

What we need from you:

  • A genuine interest in people.
  • A commitment based around reliability and mutual respect with service users.
  • A willingness to adhere to the same practices and conduct befitting a social care worker.
  • A willingness to learn
